In this part you will get to know me, learn about my background and understand why I am the right person to train you as a bartender.
I, the author of this course, am Daniel Bouamama and have almost 10 years of experience in restaurants, bars and kitchens, as well as almost 15 years of experience in service. Some parts of the course are in English to include international students.
My promise to you who are reading this is that I will share everything I have learned. This course is transparent and honest. We skip the fancy stuff and memorizing thousands of recipes. Instead, we focus on how you become an independent bartender – not a fancying robot with a memory bank full of recipes. Haha!
In addition to my 15 years in service, I have helped found bars and concepts, worked at Michelin restaurants and organized some of Sweden’s largest events – from a beverage perspective, including menu planning, purchasing, staff, training and profitability.
Green Lund 2022 – 2024:
Lyko: Have you seen the influencer events on TikTok or Instagram? Since 2024, we are behind all the drinks and send bartenders to these events.
Michelin restaurants: I have worked in Scotland for chef Tom Kitchin at two of his restaurants:
Scran & Scallie
Castle Terrace
Today I work as an entrepreneur, educator and partner with major brands to create creative experiences. This course is my masterpiece for you – read your own name here . This is my way of making the cocktail world a little better, and it is incredibly important to me that you get lots of value, knowledge and good laughs. If you don’t find the course up to par, I want you to ask for a refund. You deserve an education that you really get value from.
How did my career begin?
I started in IT support. I sat in front of a computer for eight hours a day, answering the same questions, with the same enthusiasm and joy of guiding people to solve problems. After two years, I became the “satisfaction coordinator” in the office and taught my colleagues how to give customers five-star service. But something was missing…
After two years, I got a fancy title and an extra screen to work on. The coffee tasted the same, the local pizzeria knew my Friday lunch by heart. My everyday life felt like a repeat of last week.
I wanted more. I wanted to meet people and create experiences. So after two years in IT, I decided to move to the UK – or rather Scotland – to become a bartender.
You might be thinking: “Hold up, what? Drama finger snap… From an IT geek to bartender?”
Yes, exactly! No one is wrong for the job. It’s a perfect evening and weekend job that’s also really fun.
You really only need a few personal qualities to become a good bartender, in my opinion:
What you don’t need:
In other words: if you are nice, can adapt quickly, work proactively and find solutions – then you are a strong candidate for the bartending professio
My first time as a bartender
My career started as a barback – the person who cleans, washes and refills the bar while the bartenders make drinks. I came in on my days off to learn all about bartending from my colleagues. After about four months, I got my first bartender pass.
My first order? A Brandy Alexander .
I said with confidence: “Absolutely! Please take a seat, and I’ll be right out with the best Brandy Alexander you’ve ever tried.”
… Then I went to the baking area, googled the recipe, made the drink according to the instructions, and served it.
The guest drank his drink. Inside, I was nervous. “What if it tastes like crap? You’re a fool who doesn’t know all the recipes by heart!”
The guest approached me slowly and said these words:
“This is probably one of the best Brandy Alexanders I’ve tried. Could I have another one?”
Hallelujah!
Charisma and a solution-oriented approach saved me. I then chose to ask my colleague which drinks are ordered most often, so that I could be more prepared next time (proactive work).
19 out of 20 people were hired afterwards.
Now I want to focus on making YOU such a good bartender that I would want to hire you for our events myself.
In the upcoming modules, we will build your bartending skills so that you are both confident and creative – ready to shine behind the bar! Through a perfect mix of education, inspiring videos, interactive modules and entertaining elements, we create a journey that is as educational as it is fun.
Let’s get shaking!
